What was life really like behind the Berlin Wall? Exactly how and why was Germany divided? Were families really separated by the wall? To answer these questions and more, join our 2-hour Cold War Walking Tour and visit the remaining parts of the Berlin Wall. From thrilling escape stories, to spy stories, on this tour we will show you two different sides of Berlin.

Throughout the Free Walking Tour, we will share anecdotes that bring history to life, along with recommendations for museums, exhibits, and local spots that tie the city’s past to its present.

  • What to bring: For this tour please bring an AB 2-hour Public Transport ticket. We can help you purchase one at the station if required.

  • Meeting place: Madame Tussauds, on the Unter den Linden, close to the S-Bahn Station ‘Brandenburger Tor’. Your guide will have an orange umbrella and a name tag.

  • Accessibility: This tour is suitable for wheelchair users and people with restricted mobility

  • What to wear: Our tours go ahead in all weather, so dress appropriately for walking outdoors and we will do our best to find shelter on hot/wet days where possible.
